Dublin is an ancient city founded by the Vikings over 1,000 years ago. Today it is a vibrant city, with over 1 million inhabitants. It is famous for its friendliness, beautiful Georgian architecture, literary history, pubs and nightlife.

The Dublin Marathon start is staggered from 9am until 9.20am and takes place on Monday 28 October, which is a public holiday in Ireland. With a record 14,350 runners in 2012, Dublin hosts one of Europe’s largest marathons, with runners from +/- 40 countries. The 34th running of the event in 2013 is expected to attract over 15,000 runners. Walkers are welcome and start behind the runners at the same time. There are no shorter events on the day. The historic course, which is largely flat, is one loop around the city and is well supported with enthusiastic and vocal spectators. The race starts in the city centre at Fitzwilliam Street Upper and finishes at Merrion Square nearby, close to historic Trinity College. The course passes through many of Dublin’s famous 18th century Georgian streets and the beautiful Phoenix Park, Europe’s largest urban park. The race crosses the city, north and south of the river Liffey, and down Dublin’s wide main thoroughfare, O’Connell Street.  Our package also includes entrance to the 4.1k Breakfast Run the day before! Wear your most patriotic T-shirt proudly and exchange it with a fellow participant in the Dublin Docklands. Lots of fun, breakfast and a traditional Irish Dancing show completes the Fun Run festivities. Marathon runners will have 7 hours complete the race.
