The Dublin Marathon starts and finishes in the city centre. It’s a fairly flat single lap passing through many of Dublin’s famous 18th century Georgian streets and the beautiful Phoenix Park, Europe’s largest urban park. Conditions for marathon running are ideal.

The Irish climate is influenced by the prevailing light South Westerly winds of the Gulf Stream. The average temperatures for October are around 12 – 14°C (53 – 57°F). The start is usually staggered from 8.45am, usually in 4 waves and takes place. Hosting one of Europe’s largest marathons 25,000 runners and walkers are welcome and all have 7 hours to finish this marathon distance.

A 5km Fun Run takes place the day before which is a must. Wear your most patriotic T-shirt proudly and exchange it with a fellow participant. Breakfast and a traditional Irish Dancing show completes the Fun Run festivities…it’s a great way to warm up for the big day.
