Time limit to finish the marathon is 8 hours (from start of last wave)

Approximately 6 kms of the marathon course are on the Great Wall with exhausting ascents, steep descents and more than 5100 steps to conquer. Runners will also be taken on a fairly flat and scenic route through beautiful farmlands and small picturesque villages.

Focus of The Great Wall Marathon® is on experiencing a unique adventure and not on setting new records. Truly an experience not to be missed. There will be a choice of itineraries combining the race with the fascinating city of Beijing. Extensions and visits to other areas of China and/or stopovers en route are possible.

The Marathon starts at 7.30am and is split into different waves to aid a running start and reduced congestion. The cut-off time is eight hours from the start of the last wave. Further more, full marathon runners have a six hour cut-off at kilometre 32 where runners re-enter the Great Wall section of the course. All runners still on the course after eight hours will be picked up and driven to the finish line.

21km and 8.5km options are also available.
